History
The Church of God Pentecostal - known as Freedom Worship Centre

Freedom Worship Centre, formerly known as “The Church of God Pentecostal” (TCOGP), was founded in 1964 by the late Bishop Lemuel Crossfield and Pastor Daphne Crossfield.

Lemuel Crossfield came to the U.K. in 1959. Daphne Lewin followed shortly afterwards in the spring of 1960 and on 16th April 1960, they were married. They served in their local church in Shepherds Bush for a few years.God then gave Bishop Crossfield a dream, showing traffic lights that were green all the way from Shepherds bush to Southall. This was the mandate that Bishop used to go and reside in Southall and to start the work there. The early church services were held in the bedroom of Bishop Crossfield's home, but as the congregation grew and their impact spread throughout the community, the bedroom could no longer accommodate them.

In answer to prayer, the Lord directed Bishop Lemuel and his congregation to a minister at Southall Baptist Church, who allowed them to use their church hall; however, this arrangement was only temporary. In 1967, the growing church moved to Featherstone Road to hire the London Co-operative Hall, and shortly after, they moved again to hire a hall on Brent Road, which they occupied for seven years.

Bishop Lemuel and the early church spent time in prayer over a long-term establishment needed to anchor and cultivate the seed the Lord had planted within them for the community. In May of 1973, prayers were answered, and they experienced a breakthrough, purchasing the existing Church land on Western Road, Southall, where we worship to this day! In 1996, the original church building was demolished and rebuilt. This aligned the building's entrance with the main road, making the church more visible.

Today, the church continues under the leadership of Bishop Lloyd Crossfield and Pastor Verona Crossfield. Bishop Lloyd Crossfield was first ordained as a Pastor of TCOGP UK in 1999 and took over as Lead Pastor in 2000. Just over a decade later, in 2011, his wife, Verona, was ordained to the Pastorate. Together, they continue to build on a strong legacy of faith while responding to the needs of a growing and diverse community.

We have faithfully served the Southall community for over six decades, growing in ministry while remaining rooted in the same biblical truth and commitment to service that marked our beginnings.

In 2021, Pastor Lloyd Crossfield was
elevated to the office of a Bishop.
